4 days - Early Northern Lights, mountain biking, campfires & forest exploring at a peaceful Lapland resort
If you don’t fancy the sub-zero temperatures associated with Northern Scandinavia in winter, consider an autumn tour. Enjoy the best of Finnish Lapland, staying in the lakeside retreat of Torassieppi, located 230kms north of the Arctic Circle. This local resort offers a great range of early Northern Lights activities as well as comfortable Scandinavian style accommodation.
Enjoy peaceful afternoons at the lake, discovering the nature around Torassieppi. You can pick as many berries and mushrooms as you can carry, the lake is full with tasty fish and the Jeris River is just a stone throw away.
During your stay, you get to know the local reindeers, and hunt for the Auroras by mountain bike. You will also chase the Northern Lights by bus in search of the area with the best sightings.

From Kittilä airport it is only a 45 minute transfer to Torassieppi, where you will be welcomed by the hotel and receive information on the days to come. After settling in to your accommodation, you can enjoy your dinner in the restaurant. All food is prepared from local and organic ingredients.
After dinner you will be transformed into a real Northern Lights specialist (fingers crossed) by getting to know all the details of this beautiful phenomenon. When making pancakes on the campfire you'll find yourself on the perfect spot to admire the Northern Lights. Remember there is no snow at this time of year!
After breakfast, head outside to admire all the colours that nature has to offer. You can go for a relaxing walk in the forest and feel the nature around you!
A unique way in which to hunt the Northern Lights is via mountain bike as you enter the silent forest towards secluded open areas away from any artificial light. Mountain biking during the dark nights is a thrilling and active way in which to hunt the Aurora, in a truly peaceful and magical setting.
The taste of Scandinavian autumn is found in the abundant wild, seasonal berries. They ripen throughout early summer till late autumn and are an important part of Nordic cuisine. Best eaten fresh straight off the bush - the nearby forest offers fantastic walking opportunities and is a peaceful and tranquil setting with an array of birds and wildlife. For those looking to relax then the hotel sauna offers a traditional Scandinavian experience which is an ideal way to prepare for an evening of Aurora hunting.
In the evening, after quick study of tonight's weather conditions, we will head out with a minibus to look for our dancing "Lady Green".
After breakfast transfer to Kittilä airport.
