T-Rex in Ulaanbaatar

If you haven't seen a T-Rex fossil, then head to the Central Museum of Mongolian Dinosaurs in the centre of Ulaanbaatar. It has recently been renovated and isn't big but it does have a T-Rex fossil on show. This fossil was smuggled out of Mongolia and was recently returned after a complex legal battle (all the details provided in the museum).

The centrepiece of the museum is the UV-lit 4m-tall, 3-tonne, flesh-eating Tarbosaurus bataar (a cousin of the Tyrannosaurus rex) and the smaller Saurolophus, with its distinctive cranial crest. Sambugiin Örgön Chölöö, Freedom Sq
