Christmas in Finnish Lapland

As a local Scandinavian, one of the things I miss is the authentic white Christmas.

As a local Scandinavian, one of the things I miss living in Australia is the authentic white Christmas. Therefore, this is one of the Nordic style holidays we at 50 Degrees North love to share with Australians & New Zealanders (or any one from regions unfortunate enough to only dream about a snow-covered Christmas).

Too many travellers, however, seem to end up amongst the charter crowds in Rovaniemi. So, with the help of our resident Finnish staff, we have put together some select programs in Northern Finland (or Finnish Lapland) that embrace what a white Christmas holiday should really be about.

Our magical tailor-made itineraries span everything from reindeer farms and playing with huskies to snowmobile safaris, baking cookies and visits with Santa and his elves. It’ll be an unforgettable way for families to enjoy the festive season in the wintry wonderlands of Scandinavia.

Enjoy husky sled rides, snowmobile driving and a visit to a reindeer farm. The kids will collect a Christmas tree in the snow clad forest, decorate it, and then bake delicious gingerbread biscuits. If weather and location permits, the Northern Lights will flicker across the night sky.

Join us for a magical white Christmas up north.
